Well we
have been here in Wellington a few weeks and we have settled in
pretty well. The dogs traveled well on the plane and bounced out
of their crate looking for an adventure.
Paulette's mothers house in Kenwyn
Terrace is very comfortable and located in a multi-cultural
part of Wellington and very central to the city centre. The house
has recently been renovated and has a great rear deck. We have even
harvested the olives from her olive tree - we'll see how they go
as table olives once we have finished curing them.
Wellington city is really atractive with a beautiful
view over the waterfront. Lots of cafe's, resturants, galleries
and funky designer shops to explore. We have checked out a few of
the French resturants so far.
I've been paddling my sea kayak around the bays
a few times and it is really beautiful to see the city from the
water. I joined a group doing a night paddle and it was great to
paddle the inky black with only a head torch and city lights. I've
tried fishing from the kayak but no luck yet but everyone assures
me there are plenty of fish and they certainly look fresh at the
market.
Paulette gave me a guitar for my birthday after
I expressed interest in learning so my grey cells are stressing
about having to learn something new. I'm a complete beginner but
I'm enjoying it so far.
We have both been putting a few feelers out for
work and I have arranged to run a bookbinding workshop at a local
community arts centre and have made a few graphic design contacts.
Paulette has been looking at the job market, but no leads as yet.
